  "As to the construction, the early JB SGS used rock maple wood.
  Research has revealed using English BroadLeaf Maple is a better
  match and works well with the Magnum 2 pickups.
  As to the finish, early guitars were a cellulose application.
  Today we use the latest twin pack polyester which gives a superb durable finish.
  The extensive use of stainless steel is a very important part of the special sound of the SGS."

  I just received my custom John Birch SGS, all I can say is WOW!
  It arrived set up, ready to play. This SG is way different then my Gibson SG.
  The guitar is heavy & rock solid, almost like a Les Paul.
  There is no neck joint at the body,
  it is perfectly hand blended into the body.
  The bridge is very comfortable & sits higher up,
  It allows me to dig in with my pick better.
  The action is nice & low through out the entire neck.
  My fretboard is flat, wide & finished like glass.
  It is the Ultimate Fretboard for fast playing!
  The entire guitar's paint finish is immaculate.
  
  Now for the sound:
  Power chords are heavy & blend perfectly.
  It is easy to hear why Tony Iommi had played this guitar.
  The "JB Magnum 2" pickups have a ton of power.
  They provide heavy bottom with a strong mid range tone.
  The high-end has a brilliant Stainless steel sound.
  It has been rolled back a bit to allow
  powerful chords & solos with an aggressive pick attack.
  All of the stainless steel parts provide the unique high-end.
  This is the famous John Birch sound I was looking for!
  Listen to Tony Iommi on songs like " Shockwave, Symptom of the Universe &
  You wont change me" You will hear that unique, brilliant sound I am referring to here.
  This is the only guitar on the planet that gets that sound.
  
  
  The rhythm Magnum 2 pickup is very powerful as well.
  It sounds Like Yngwie Malmsteen's neck pickups, but no single coil stacks here.
  Magnum 2 humbucking pickup's have much more power behind them.
  They have more sustain & output than any pickup I have used.
  The rhythm pickup full tilt while soloing sounds like an Ebow.
  The unique performance of these picksups is due in part
  to matching them with the special English BroadLeaf Maple wood
  used through out this guitar.
  The more I play the guitar, the more I discover.
  
  
  

  The JB SGS sounds great through Marshall stacks or a small practice amp.
  
  I had the opportunity to be in the Studio when Black Sabbath recorded Technical Extasy.
  I got to see & hear Tony Iommi use his JB SGS up close.
  The newer John Birch SGS is an up-dated version of Tonys guitar that he used then.
  
  The JB SGS is the original "custom shop Tony Iommi SG" it has that English tone.
  That other custom shop guitar just does not have this unique sound, I played it.
  
  John Birch Guitars made the guitar exactly how I wanted it.
  It delivers the metallic sound I craved.
